Born and raised here in Raleigh, I was your typical girly girl. I loved creating my own salon and spa at home, making my mom and dad sit as I painted their nails, applied their makeup and played with their hair. As I got older, I turned to my friends as my guinea pigs. The closer to graduation I knew the path I was going to take would not be your average teenagers. Graduating high school early to attend cosmetology school jump started my life. While in cosmetology school I had a dream to open up my own salon with my dad. Although I lost my dad halfway through school I still had the mission of fulfilling our dream. After getting my feet wet and working in multiple salons, I opened my own one chair studio in 2015. No matter who walks through our door, we want them to walk back out of it feeling just as beautiful on the outside as they do on the inside. When we say ‘Support your Local Girl Gang’, we mean it. You’ll find Pinup Studio supporting and cheering on all women and local businesses in the Raleigh area. When Christina envisioned Pinup Studio, she saw a place at her table for everyone. Our team is diverse and specializes in everything from hair cutting, hair color, hair extensions, brows, makeup and bridal. We are an award winning salon with Midtown Magazine, Indy Week, WRAL, News and Observer, and NALA. We pride ourselves on our customer satisfaction, continued monthly education and always going the extra mile.
A Pinup Girl is a stylist who is developing their artistry in all principle based design haircuts and color techniques who has been behind the chair for at least one year. Once they build a steady clientele and achieve industry benchmarks, they are then promoted. With all of this in mind booking with a “Pinup Girl” is more budget friendly but the skill and talent do not fall short..

A stylist who has developed their design and coloring skills, working to produce beautiful and artistic outcomes. These advanced stylists have gone through additional training and certifications in all the primary principals. These stylists are in the process of mastering all of Pinup Studio’s educational classes and continuing to build a steady clientele. Their price point reflects the continued education level and that pairs perfectly with their skill level.

These stylists hold leadership positions within the salon and are advanced with techniques. They are specialists in all of Pinup Studio’s Principles. They are well-known for their work, have reached rigorous goals and met our education and skill requirements. These stylists artistically guide the entire team and take appointments by request only. These are the most sought-after hair stylists in the salon not only because of their very advanced education level but also because of their well-known reputation in the community.

Balayage is a freehand painting technique that creates a super blended multi-tonal and sun-kissed result. Which makes it easier to grow out/ spread out appointment times which is also why it tends to cost more as more work is needed to create the seamless affect. Unlike highlights, it’s usually a process without foils (but some techniques do incorporate a film somewhat like saran wrap in order to achieve lighter results).
You’re stylist will tell you exactly what is used on you and explain why she’s choosing to use these products. Giving you the option at the end to purchase what was used so you can create the same style at home! Our front desk is well trained in our retail section to assist you as well.
Of course! What’s a better gift than a gift card to your favorite salon? Gift cards can be purchased in salon or online under the “Book Now” tab!
We accept all major debit and credit cards as well as Apple Pay and other tapping methods! We do not accept cash or checks. No cash is kept within Pinup to give change and we will not accept payment of cash form even at exact cost.
We use Tippy, a system built specifically for the beauty industry. The tips are directly deposited into the service professional’s bank accounts the next business day. So it’s totally okay if you didn’t bring cash to tip, your stylist will receive your tip the following day! Cash tips for stylists are accepted, however we cannot make change for larger bills in the salon.
We do not accept appointments for children under the age of 10. At Pinup Studio, the safety and comfort of our guests and stylists are our top priorities. Due to the potential hazards present in a salon environment, we kindly request children under the age of 10 do not accompany you to your appointment, with the exception of breastfeeding mothers. If childcare cannot be arranged, we ask that these guests kindly reschedule their appointments to a time that better suits both them and their stylist. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in maintaining a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone at Pinup!
We pride ourselves on providing service to all of our clients in a timely and professional manner. Your promptness is greatly appreciated and required to properly serve you. As a courtesy to other clients, we can only conduct your session within your scheduled appointment. If you are over 10-15 minutes we may have to reschedule or not be able to preform each service you had desired to receive that day.
Because our services are reserved especially for you, we ask that you notify us 24 hours in advance to change or cancel appointments without penalty. Without 24 hour notice, we will charge a fee of 50% of the price of the cancelled service, and 100% of the service in the event of a “no-show.” Which will be required to be paid prior to your next appointment. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
If you find yourself dissatisfied with a product, we will accept a bottle back that remains 75% full. We are pleased to offer a refund in the form of salon credit. You will receive 80% of the total amount paid. The salon credit can only be applied towards the purchase of another product within the salon.
While we pride ourselves in providing thorough consultations to eliminate this we understand sometimes you might not end up with your desired look. In the event this happens we do offer redos free of charge within 7 days of your appointment. A full blow dry style is not included in this redo and will be charged accordingly if you wish to receive one. (Free redos do require acceptance from management and a consultation) if you choose to see another stylist we can accommodate that as well!
